As most of you will know, we've toured across Europe as often as our modest budgets allow. Throughout every tour we've done, we've encountered the usual problems; van breakdowns, show cancellations, broken and lost equipment and a host of other little nightmares.

On our 2013 tour we had a van disaster at the bottom of a mountain in pitch black rural Romania - two flat tyres, no spares, no breakdown cover and 300km between us and our next show. From nowhere an old man on a horse and cart approached us to see if we were OK - his English was about as good as our Romanian, but with the help of a friend (Le Serj) on the phone from Iasi we were able to ascertain that the guys son was a mechanic, so he called him over from the next town to replace the tyres. Whilst we waited a lady came out from her home and offered us in for tea and biscuits (it was fucking freezing!) - again with every word being exchanged through Google translate. In just over an hour the van was back on the road; upon arrival in Iasi, a team of guys were waiting to help us get our gear on stage, with food and drinks at the ready. The show was fantastic and the post-show drinking sesh with a room full of old and new Romanian friends was even better!

On our tour last year two shows were cancelled and without the help of some wonderful people in Greece (Christos), Bulgraia (Tsvetomir) and Slovakia (BRITISH ROCK STARS) we'd have potentially lost too much money to continue the tour.

These are just a few of examples of countless times we've been pulled out of the shit through the sheer generosity, kindness and endless enthusiasm of the many friends we've made across Europe. Indeed, none of our tours would happen at all without our European friends; from Brussels to Athens and everywhere in between we can't thank you enough.

However, in the last week here in the UK, it would appear that utterly repulsive, blatantly racist rhetoric has somehow become completely acceptable, with a shocking number of verbal and physical attacks on people suspected of the 'crime' of being foreign. It's beyond abhorrent and we hardly recognise this frightened little island right now.

We sincerely hope that our relationship with Europe isn't tarnished beyond repair - there are many of us who feel completely at odds with the Brexit result and are grasping at any opportunity we might have to remain a part of the EU.

As a small band, on an independent label (the wonderful, infallible Monotreme Records), freedom of movement to tour across Europe is essential, particularly if we're to play shows to more than just the bartenders and sound guys.

Indeed, we had been talking with our Greek promoter just last week to plan a tour with raised by swans for January 2017 - we hope that nothing will stop this tour and any future tours from happening.

So, before this post goes on any longer (it's already gotten too long), we just want to let you know that we are and always will be thoroughly European and we have nothing but love and respect for you all xxx
Midas Falltag:midasfall.com,2005:Post/41684242016-05-06T12:02:11+01:002022-04-18T12:30:19+01:00Long Overdue Update
Hello everyone, we're so sorry it has taken such a long time to update, but recently we've been making some big changes and needed time to figure it all out.

Last year we embarked on our longest tour to date, a tour that wouldn't have been possible without your support and for which we are incredibly humbled and eternally grateful.

The tour itself was, as most tours are, a mixture of confusion, bewilderment, hangovers, nightmares and more than anything, heaps of fun. We made some incredible friends along the way and touring with raised by swans was an absolute honour, in Eric we've truly made a friend for life. The tour also wouldn't have been possible without the ongoing support of numerous promoters, in particular Christos at Lovelite, and of course the ever splendid Monotreme Records - thank you all so much.

Upon our return we were relieved to be reunited with home comforts, but at the same time were deeply saddened at the prospect of having to return to our day jobs, once again putting music on the back burner.

After a lot of deliberation we decided that after five years of making music in England, we wanted to move the band back to Scotland, which sadly means parting ways with Steven and Chris.

Without diminishing in any way the profound input of other members over the years, the two of us (Liz and Rowan) have for the most part, been responsible for the vast majority of the bands writing and production, so despite the change in format, we are still the same band and will continue to make music as we have been since the beginning of Midas Fall.

Today is our first day back in Scotland. We're spending a few weeks in the beautiful coastal town of Oban before moving into our new home in nearby Taynuilt, where we plan to write and record new material in the summer months, and if possible squeeze in a few shows before the year is out.

We are immeasurably thankful for all the support you have shown us over the years and cannot wait to see you all again when we get back to touring xx

http://youtu.be/zPOBJYWyKo0
Midas Falltag:midasfall.com,2005:Post/38341332015-08-28T11:09:06+01:002022-04-13T07:18:11+01:00New Track 'Afterthought' Previewed by Rocking.grA very quick update to let you know that the track 'Afterthought' from our forthcoming album 'The Menagerie Inside' is being previewed over at Rocking.gr - click here to have a listen: http://www.rocking.gr/news/Apokleistiko-Akouste-akoma-ena-kommati-apo-ton-neo-disko-twn-Midas-Fall/25194/Midas Falltag:midasfall.com,2005:Post/38317912015-08-25T15:01:34+01:002022-04-07T13:44:37+01:00European Tour Dates and Indiegogo FundraiserThis November we'll be embarking on our third European tour, performing everywhere from Belgium to Bulgaria. As touring is massively expensive we've decided to set up a fundraiser through Indiegogo to help cover fuel costs. It feels like a very long time since we recorded 'Eleven. The next album will most likely have nine tracks, of which we are now two thirds of the way through recording. In order to avoid entering Fleetwood Mac 'Rumours' territory (as we may have veered into shortly after finishing 'Eleven...') we've decided to record in batches of three songs at a time. To date this method has proved considerably less stressful; so far we're on schedule, 87% less tantrums have been thrown and so far not a single alarm clock has been annihilated!

The second album will not be released until early 2013, so until then we will try our level best to keep you entertained, perhaps in the form of the odd cover or remix - is there a song you'd like to hear our take on? If so, let us know - comment, tweet and email us (info [@] midasfall [.] com) your suggestions!

Once we have completed the second album we may do a couple of shows in the UK to showcase some (or maybe a lot) of the new songs, for news on this you can join our mailing list (and get a free tune!) or keep up with us on Facebook and Twitter.

In the meantime please enjoy some free downloads from our Soundcloud page here: https://soundcloud.com/midasfall/sets/downloads-39/
